A competition
of geographic programming applications based on GeographicServices.net
The competition consists in the
creation of an application that uses the Web Services provided by GeoServicios.com,
and developed by the participants with any technology. From February 15th until
June 1st the contestants will create an application that may be a web or a
desktop application or for a mobile device, using any programming language,
platform, tool, device or operating system.
The participants must register
before the 1st of June. From the moment of their registration, contestants will
have a maximum of three months in which to complete their application. Upon
registering, each contestant will receive a GeographicServices
access account to use during the three months application development period.
If the
development consists of an application for a mobile device (palm, pocket PC or
mobile phone), the participant will have to provide an emulator of the device
for the evaluation of the application by the jury.
The participants will also supply a
brief that will include the help guide and any other documentation that they
consider useful for evaluating the application by the jury. The brief must at
least include a title, summary, description and equipment specifications for
the developed application.
The competition results will be
published in GeographicServices.net.
The jury will evaluate the usefulness,
originality or innovation of the application, its interface and speed of
execution, the documentation that has been submitted and the ease and
friendliness of use.
4. Contestants
a. Physical persons of any country
may enter the competition. Any expenses incurred in delivering prizes won in
countries other than
b. Participants may form teams of a
maximum of two people.
c. Participants shall be
disqualified if their submitted application does not meet the competition’s
requirements or if it has an unacceptable content or if they cannot provide
valid proof of identification.
d. Each contestant participates
under his or her sole responsibility. The organising company shall not be
liable for any actions or activities of the participants.
e. The organising company shall not
be liable for server or e-mail system faults, nor for any other cause related
to the competition.
f. The participation in the
competition presumes complete acceptance of the conditions set forth by the
organising company.
g. The participants, the
applications they develop and their contents may not infringe on patents,
copyrights, industrial property rights, intellectual property rights or any
other rights belonging to third parties.
h. The organising company reserves
the right to unilaterally modify the conditions and rules of the competition if
it is considered that the alterations will improve any aspect of the
competition.
i. Any and all claims shall be submitted to the
jurisdiction of the authorities of Alava.
